About Lewis Conservation District

Since 1943, Lewis Conservation District has served to protect our local lands and waters through free, non-regulatory technical assistance and community education. Our work aims to safeguard natural resources, ensure agricultural viability and foster a culture of ecological stewardship throughout Lewis County.

Voluntary Stewardship Program

The Voluntary Stewardship Program (VSP) supports farmers through a collaborative, incentive-based process designed to protect critical areas, promote agricultural viability and encourage cooperation among diverse stakeholders.

Farm Planning

Farm plans aim to increase sustainability and agricultural viability by prescribing best management practices in the context of existing resources and farmers' goals. Projects recommended in farm plans may be eligible for cost-share assistance.

Riparian Enhancement

Riparian enhancement services employ incentive-based programs that serve to enhance water quality, fish habitat and stream stability through planting riparian buffers.
